The Prince Faisal bin Salman Award for Academic Excellence is granted to recognize the achievements of students at the University of Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz who excel in academic performance, leadership qualities, and innovation. The award aims to motivate outstanding students who possess high potential for self-development and the ability to develop exceptional initiatives in student activities within and outside the university.

About the Award

The Prince Faisal bin Salman Award for Academic Excellence is granted to recognize the achievements of students at the University of Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz who excel in academic performance, leadership qualities, and innovation. The award aims to motivate outstanding students who possess high potential for self-development and the ability to develop exceptional initiatives in student activities within and outside the university.

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all creation, who said in the clear verses of the Quran, "Verily it is the knowledgeable people who are the most God-fearing"; and may abundant peace and blessings upon Muhammad, his family and his companions.

The aim of the Prince Faisal bin Salman Excellence Award is to honor outstanding male and female students for their academic and scientific achievements during their university studies. It also aims to motivate students who have demonstrated leadership qualities and innovation, as well as those who have shown high potential for self-development and the ability to develop exceptional student activities. The award also recognizes effective participation in relevant activities within and outside the university.

The nomination criteria for the award include seven (7) academic indicators based on the candidate's academic record. These indicators can be measured accurately, fairly and transparently. The committee has also established criteria for the selection of the award recipients including a main indicator, representing 60% of the criteria, which is the academic achievement of students. The remaining 40% is distributed among 5 other indicators, including leadership qualities, self-development, community service through student activities, intelligence measurement, and innovative ability.

The award is granted to 2 male and 2 female students from each college, in addition to one male and one female student from the preparatory year, making a total of 8 recipients, according to the adopted nomination and selection criteria for the award.

On behalf of the students at the University of Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the patron of the award, for his care, moral and financial support to the students and the award. Nomination Criteria for the Award

The nomination criteria for the award included 7 academic indicators based on the academic record of the nominated student, which can be measured accurately, transparently, and fairly.

Criteria for Nomination by a College:

1. The student must have completed two years of study (four consecutive main semesters) in the college with a minimum of 60 credit hours.
2. The student's cumulative GPA should not be less than 3.75 out of 4.
3. The student should not have received an academic warning.
4. The student should not have violated university regulations.
5. The student should not have failed or received a DN in a subject due to absences.
6. The student should not have studied the two main semesters of the academic year in which they are nominated for the award.
7. The registered course load for the student in one semester should not be less than 15 credit hours, provided that all the above conditions apply.

2. The student should not have received an academic warning.
3. The student should not have violated university regulations.
4. The student should not have failed or received a DN in a subject due to absences.
 

 The criteria for selection is based on six indicators as follows:
- 1) Academic Excellence (Cumulative GPA)
- 2) Leadership Traits
- 3) Personal Development
- 4) Emotional Intelligence Test
- 5) Department/Faculty Recommendation
- 6) Professional Development Certificates
A percentage of 60% has been allocated for the academic achievement of nominated male and female students, and the remaining 40% has been distributed among the other five indicators as shown in the following table:

Number of Award Winners

The award is granted to one male and one female student from each faculty in addition to one male and one female student from the preparatory year, with a total of eight winners.

Procedure for applying the selection and comparison criteria

1 – Students are nominated according to the aforementioned selection criteria through the university registration system and by using the academic records of students.

2 – All nomination processes are carried out through the automated system in registration, and a report is generated according to the indicators mentioned in the criteria for award nomination.

3 – Messages are sent to nominated students informing them of their nomination for the award and specifying a time period for submitting the required documents for the comparison criteria to the committee secretary.

5 - Students are ranked separately by gender and by college, and the winners of the award at the college level are considered to be the top male and female students in each college.
