Admission Criteria at University of Prince Mugrin bin Abdulaziz
General Admission Criteria:
To admit students at the University of Prince Mugrin, students should:
Have high school diploma or its equivalent from the kingdom or abroad.
Be physically fit.
Not be dismissed from any other university for disciplinary reasons; otherwise, his/her admission will be revoked.
A. Admission Criteria based on the educational system:
1- Saudi System:
Scientific stream: 80% and above.
Literature stream: 80% and above.
2- British Diploma IGCSE:
Must satisfy one of the conditions below:
Eight (8) courses O level grade C and above.
Five (5) courses O level grade C and above in addition to two courses AS with a score not less than D.
Five (5) courses O level grade C and Above and one course A level with grade D.
3- American Diploma:
Students must have the American Diploma with a minimum average of 80%.
The university can accept high school graduates from other educational systems that follow the non-attendance education pattern if the student fulfills the university’s admission requirements, such as home schooling, or any other programs.
B. Admission Criteria for Non-Saudi High School Certificate:
American high school diplomas from international schools must be officially accredited by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia.
General Secondary Education Certificates (Saudi system) obtained from outside the Kingdom must be authenticated by the Saudi Cultural Attaché in the country of issuance.
Applicants holding a high school certificate from a non-Saudi educational system—whether obtained inside or outside the Kingdom—must provide all required attestations and official approvals.
C. Required Documents
Copy of High school certificate or its equivalent.
Copy of Saudi ID for Saudi students, Iqama or visit visa for non-Saudis.
Copy of Aptitude exam result, if set for the exam.
Copy of Achievement exam result, if set for the exam.
Medical report issued and stamped from a certified hospital or health care center.
Copy of English language certificate (IELTS or its equivalent), if available.
Special Admission Criteria:
A. Direct Admission to the Academic Programs:
The default admission at the university is direct admission into the academic program. In addition to the above, the student must also meet the following requirements:
1. IELTS or equivalent:
Score 5.5 in IELTS for all academic programs, except International Hospitality Management 6.0.
2. TOEFL:
IBT 35–45 for all programs.
60 IBT for International Hospitality Management.
Paper-based 500 for all programs.
Paper-based 550 for International Hospitality Management.
3. UPM Placement Test:
(Oxford Online Placement Test) 7.
4. UPM Math and Computer placement tests:
70% and above.
Applicants who do not meet the above criteria are advised to enroll in the Preparatory Year Program.
B. Admission to Preparatory Year program:
If the student does not meet the direct admission requirements for the academic program, they must enroll in the Preparatory Program.
Upon successfully completing the Preparatory Program requirements, the student may begin studying in their chosen academic major. Placement into academic programs after completing the Preparatory Program is based on the available capacity of each program and college, as well as the student's stated preferences submitted to the university.
1- Required scores to Pass Preparatory Year courses:
English Language & Mathematics: C and above, or 70% and above.
Preparatory Computer Science: D and above, or 60% and above.
2- Program-Specific Admission Requirements:
a) College of Computer and Cyber Sciences Programs:
Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 out of 4.0 in the Preparatory Year to be admitted in these programs.
b) Interior Design Program:
Students must successfully complete the Preparatory Year with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 out of 4.
Students must successfully complete the Preparatory Year with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 out of 4. The Preparatory Year Program (PYP) is considered complete when the student passes ENGL 004 and MATH 002.
The minimum required grade in both Math and English courses is B.
After completing the PYP requirements, students must pass the Interior Design Admission Test.
